Version 1.2

Posted by Justin on Sunday, 23 May 2010 11:24pm

Announcing version 1.2 of Mobile Assault. This version adds a new in game message system and achievements, and a few minor fixes. The full changelist is available, and the PSP download is available straight away. The iPhone update will come through the App Store once approved by Apple, hopefully in the next couple of days. Remember, if you're updating the PSP version, make sure you back up your mobileassault.db file and put it in the new folder to keep your player settings. As always, any feedback is welcome.

found 2 bugs, in instant action sometimes it won’t reload ammo all the way, I’ve had my hellfire missiles capped at 30 (60 max) and bullets not update at all. Also I just played at least 30 minutes (more like 35) and then I aborted the mission, but didn’t get the 30 minutes achievement.

Thanks for the bug report. Looks like that reloading bug just doesn't want to fix itself. In regards to not getting the achievement on 'abort', that's on purpose. We're going to relook at the way missions are ended anyway, so we might address that then. In the meantime it looks like you're just going to have to get shot down.

If you end a mission you won't be awarded the achievement (there is no screen to pop up!) but the data is saved and the next time you complete a mission (win or loss) you will be awarded the achievement.

thanks for the rely it worked, found another bug (or maybe just a realistic feature) you can be killed by your own air strike.

  6. avatarGlennNZ said on Wednesday, 26 May 2010 9:48am:

Yeah. Getting shot down by your own airstrike is hilarious. I didn't implement it on purpose, but I'm going to keep it there.

Nice, it serves as an easy way to "quit" instant action :p also with the air strike only achievement do you have to do that for every mission? (I've done it on one and still havent gotten it)

  8. avatarJustin said on Wednesday, 26 May 2010 3:47pm:

The airstrikes only achievement is only for one mission. Have you uploaded to the leaderboard since you played that mission? If you have, I can find out what happened for you.

i was wondering why this new update takes so much longer to save the file after a mission?

  10. avatarJustin said on Friday, 28 May 2010 3:19pm:

The end of a mission now has to award the achievements, which is why it takes longer. The problem is that the PSP memory stick is so slow to write to. We're working on a way that this doesn't interrupt the game so much.

I found a bug in v. 1.1 some time ago (on PSP, of course). When one cancels input when setting a username, the thing seems to wait for the action to finish, effectively forcing a restart. Firmware is 5.50 GEN-D3.

^restart of the game, that is.

Thanks for the bug report, meklu. I can't reproduce this bug on 1.1 or 1.2. Any more details? Does it happen every time?

  14. avatarmeklu said on Wednesday, 9 June 2010 1:10am:

Well, it might be a bug in GEN. I had erased all the characters, if I remember correct. Happened to me twice (ie. both times I tried) with MobileAssault 1.1 (got it from QJ). Not sure of 1.2 though. Some other homebrew (namely Xplora, v. 1.8) didn't have this bug. I have *not* tested this on M33.
